This Schon DSGN Pocket Smoltem compact fountain pen is made of Natural Ultem, an engineered plastic.
From Ian Schon about the material: 'The material Ultem aka PEI (Polyetherimide) is able to be machined thinner than most acrylic pens and yet will be stronger than acrylic to resist accidental drops or mishaps. I love Ultem as I started my career before pens making scientific instruments out of this material. Plus it has the cool yellow/amber color in its natural form.'
The 'Smoltem Pocket' is a fountain pen that's compact when capped but offers a nice full sized fountain pen experience when the cap is posted on the back of the pen. It's slightly bigger than the Schon DSGN Pocket Six. It has a #6 sized JoWo steel nib, which is a full sized nib, rather than the smaller #5 commonly found in pocket size fountain pens.
The cap screws to open/close as well as to post onto the back. This clipless fountain pen accepts short standard international ink cartridges (a pack is included), and can also be used as an eyedropper pen.
